Torolab can be understood as a collective laboratory/workshop that investigates contextual and territorial studies. Founded in Tijuana in 1995 by Raúl Cardenaz Osuna (Mazatlan, Sinaloa 1969), the Torolab project consists of politics and poetics that embrace social phenomena, urban spaces and artistic languages. These researches must, in a level, improve the quality life of the ones involved. The projects are developed in collaboration with artists or experts on the subject field that’s being investigated.
The subjects that have been developed until now, part from the identity problems in the US and Mexican border, the living, and surviving. These researches leave traces that go from human interventions, multimedia projects, construction systems, surviving units to daily stuff such as furniture and clothes.
